Jared Goff Thanksgiving Day Odds and Props: A Top QB Airs It Out

For decades, the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving game hadn’t been anything to get too jazzed up about while enjoying your feast. Detroit is 37-44-2 on Turkey Day, after all.

This year is different with Dan Campbell’s Lions on pace to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and they could even win 12 or more games for the first time since 1991. NFL odds even have the Lions as more than a touchdown favorite over the Green Bay Packers, thanks in part to Jared Goff taking his game up a notch this season in the Motor City.

As a result, I’m looking at Jared Goff odds to take advantage of his solid play heading into NFL Week 12.

You can see how I’m betting on the Lions quarterback as we dive into the TNF odds in my free NFL picks bel…

NFL Week 6 Weather & Odds: Windy Conditions Expected in Music City

Nothing will mess up a well-handicapped bet like the weather.

Just when you think you’ve found your edge in the NFL odds, Mother Nature blindsides you with rain and wind, flipping the on-field conditions and spoiling your best-laid plans.

Don’t let that happen to your NFL picks in Week 6. Several games could be influenced by the elements, and I uncover those forecasts and how you should factor them into your Week 6 wagers.

2022 World Cup Final To Be Played In City That's Currently Not Real

The 2022 Qatar World Cup continues to be a disastrous exercise for the world's most beautiful game. In addition to the deadly slave labor and oppressive heat, a CNN article from Monday points out that the city expected to host the final, Lusail, still needs to be built: Some 20,000 workers — a small city unto itself — are building Lusail at an estimated cost of $45 billion. Developers hope to complete the city by 2019, three years before Qatar is scheduled to become the first Arab country to host the World Cup. The one flaw in this plan is, by 2019, Qatar may not even be hosting the World Cup. The public pressure against holding the tournament there is rising, with even shitbag FIFA president Sepp Blatter admitting the process has been a total clusterfuck. So while Qata…

Police to investigate after Real Madrid bus window broken before Liverpool tie

Merseyside Police have launched an investigation after a window was smashed on Real Madrid’s team coach as they travelled to their Champions League quarter-final second leg at Anfield.

Hundreds of fans lined Anfield Road, very few wearing masks or observing social distancing, to greet both teams. When one of Real’s buses parked up at the Kop end of the ground after the team had disembarked, it was apparent one pane of a double-glazed window had been smashed. Liverpool staff were seen cleaning up a pile of broken glass on the ground with Merseyside Police officers in attendance.

‘Still here’: a Welsh World Cup odyssey sets seal on emotional awakening

“Dafydd Iwan!” a man with a big belly shouts at the bottom of a hill which overlooks Caernarfon Castle and offers views of the Menai Strait, Anglesey and the mountains of Snowdonia. Iwan, the 79-year-old composer, turns and smiles. There is a long pause as he is also a politician, a preacher and now the unofficial leader of the Red Wall of football supporters who will follow Wales at their first World Cup in 64 years.

Eventually the man just lifts his hand and, in dazed surprise, says: “Yma o Hyd.”

Iwan waves back and repeats the title of a song he wrote almost 40 years ago, a paean to Welsh defiance and nationalism which has become an emotional World Cup anthem. Yma o Hyd means “still here” in English a…

Alexander-Arnold in line for midfield role in England’s Euro 2024 opener

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in line to accompany Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham in midfield when England face Serbia in their opening game at Euro 2024 on Sunday.

Gareth Southgate, who has a number of fitness concerns before his side travel to Gelsenkirchen for their Group C opener, faces a big call over who should take the third spot in central midfield. England are light on experience after leaving Kalvin Phillips and Jordan Henderson out of their squad and whoever is chosen to start with Bellingham and Rice will have plenty to prove.

SI Uncovers The Brady Jersey Thief’s Ebay Feedback Page

Robert Klemko and Jenny Vrentas have a deep dive today on the Tom Brady Super Bowl jersey theft—it’s even part of Sports Illustrated’s “True Crime” series —and it’s an interesting look at the complicated steps law enforcement had to take in order to retrieve the Super Bowl LI jersey. Cops recovered it, along with Brady’s jersey from Super Bowl XLIX and Von Miller’s helmet from Super Bowl 50, from Martín Mauricio Ortega, the former director of the La Prensa tabloid in Mexico City. The story details one of the law enforcement sources in the case: A 19-year-old, Dylan Wagner, who once sold a game-worn Deion Branch jersey to Ortega. Wagner corresponded with Ortega after the sale, and Ortega sent him photos of his memorabilia collection, including Brady’s grass-stained …

The Yankees Seem To Be Looking For A Manager Who Doesn't Exist

Nearly two weeks after the Yankees decided to let manager Joe Girardi walk, nothing has emerged to make their decision seem any less confusing than it did at the time. Some fresh commentary on the situation from general manager Brian Cashman did nothing to clear it up. Cashman asserted to local media today that there wasn’t any issue with his own relationship with Girardi, or any disconnect over the use of analytics. The one area he deemed a problem was “connectivity and communication” with players—apparently not so much of a problem as to stop him from later calling Girardi “an exceptional manager.” In a vacuum, there’s nothing particularly strange about this; Girardi was widely recognized as a good manager, sure, but generally good managers have been let go over less than…
